Op-Ed in the Seattle Times
Interesting article here. I'll never look at the milk spirals in my coffee without thinking about 'Heckuva Job, Brownie.' again. Take a look.

This is dedicated to the resurrection of New Orleans, Louisiana. Our rich culture, care for one another, and roll-up-our-sleeves tenacity will lead New Orleans into a new golden era. "...everyone who knows New Orleans loves it because it is the most down-to-earth, real place in the country. There is no poser action in this city. It is the real deal--what you see is what you get." we need this continued awareness to be spread around the country.
It is better than the murder rate being posted everywhere.
The other day, after Landrieu had her vent about the pace of funding, Stupid Sean Hannity started spewing about how new orleans had already received 120 billion and ny only got 20 billion. First, where is he getting these numbers?
Next he actually said, ny had 3000 die while LA had only 1600 or so. I didn't realize that should matter. I also don't believe that 200,000+ people were displaced from their homes (going on 1 1/2 years now) in NY either.
Clio,
Great column. This is exactly what should be stated to Nagin, Blanco, Bush, Cheney, Chertoff, Powell, the city council, the state representatives, the state senate, the levee board, the corps of engineers, etc. every single day. And the people of this country think it's New Orleans and the State of Louisiana's fault. There is not one solitary reason that huge bureaucratic hurdles should continue to be obstacles to rebuilding. Yet they are. And it looks like we have a problem getting our act together when we are simply playing by the insane, wieldy, incomprehensible rules. Now, when we have foresight and disaster everywhere, we get blamed for being slow to act and overly cautious. Whom can you blame?
I blame people who live in Pennsylvania and pay taxes there.
In response to Mary beths comment. We need the Murder rate to go down so we do not have to hide from the reality of it.
No one in this City is immune.
