Ashley Morris, My Friend

Ashley passed away yesterday. I'm in shock.

UPDATE: You will notice in my blogroll, which I created long ago, I labelled Ashley "The Inimitable." It didn't take more than three seconds to come up with that descriptor, and it holds up really well.

When his children are older, it will be difficult to describe him to them. What are the comparisons?

But we will all try, because they deserve it.

I am heartbroken; I feel so horrible for his family and friends that he's left behind. He was such a wonderful advocate for NOLA.

When I saw this post, I clicked on the link to Ashley's blog. Hopefully, this will stay in cyberspace...a small way for his children to connect when they are older and a little piece of Asley.

Ashley was the Paul Bunyan of the NOLA bloggers.

And there are some folks who are starting to work on preserving his blog.

"What are the comparisons?"

He was an original. I couldn't adequately compare him to anyone I know.

See, that is my problem. He was unique and there is nobody like him. How can he ever be replaced? It was like a shooting star.

He can't be replaced.

But we can all whoop it up and make a lot of noise. Maybe that will help others remember him. Maybe that will help us forget him just enough to keep moving, because remembering just hurts a whole lot.
